17.10.05 - SIMBA WARNING ON STOLEN CULTIVATOR Simba International is warning farmers not to buy a cultivator that was stolen from the company’s premises in Woodbridge Road, Sleaford over the weekend of Saturday15th/Monday 17th October. The cultivator – a 4.6 metre wide Unipress – can easily be identified as it has a unique product number (12021) which should be displayed on a registration plate attached to the implement’s frame. If attempts have been made to remove or deface the plate, this should also be readily apparent. The machine is worth nearly £20,000 at current retail prices. The theft was discovered when staff arrived at work on Monday morning: “We found that a big hole had been cut through the fencing at the back of our yard. In gaining access to our yard the thieves also caused considerable damage to the outside wall of the premises of a neighbouring company. The police have been informed and are investigating”, says Guy Leversha, a director of Simba. “We believe a JCB telescopic loader was used to remove the cultivator – which weighs around 2.75 tonnes. That JCB will probably have a broken window as well, as we found glass bearing the company’s logo in the area. “Meanwhile we would warn any farmer against buying this machine. New Simba equipment is only available from Simba’s appointed dealers. If they are offered new Simba equipment by anyone else they should not consider it, but inform the local police”.
