11.07.05 - AQUEEL IS BIG TALKING POINT Simba’s unique Aqueel roller – a tool which helps farmers harvest and utilise water to optimum benefit, while preventing water and wind-related soil erosion - attracted fresh interest from around the world when it was exhibited in the Royal Show’s Global Partnerships Pavilion. The Aqueel is a roller made from a flexible micro-cellular polyurethane substance, which enables it to shrug off soil without the need for scrapers – a property which makes it much valued by users because it is virtually unblockable. This combination of assets makes it of great interest to farmers all over the world who face very similar challenges regarding optimising water usage and preventing soil erosion, and especially for those in Europe, as they get used to managing their soils in accordance with the new Cross Compliance regulations of the CAP. Among the many overseas delegations to visit Simba’s stand was one from Ghana. Agriculture Minister Ernest Debrah and his colleague Dr Eberneezer Norteybarnor, were looking for ways to ensure that scare water resources were retained and available to promote more efficient production of crops like forage maize. |
